An excerpt from our latest project (link: https://tinyurl.com/35zxacej ). A back-up strategy to be used sparingly and only in unintended close quarters. In a real struggle, this move would probably look even more "rough and tumble" because it is an awkward situation to begin with (too close with a long weapon). Chinese martial arts developed strategies for getting and keeping the hands on top; this included switching and flipping the sabers to "cover" the opposing limbs and weapons. You would think you wouldn't be able to move the sabers like this without getting tangled, but this is the best method they could devise in case the sabers needed to switch. This is just one example, more explanation and info here: https://tinyurl.com/35zxacej
