The story behind Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one that has been discussed frequently since 2001. Long story short, this era of Wilco saw significant adversity. Line-up changes/internal conflict, substance abuse and most notably, the lack of support from their label, Reprise. Changes were demanded. Jeff Tweedy refused to make them. The band was ultimately dropped soon after. Thus, the controversial story behind Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was born. But issues aside, this was the band's breakthrough album. The first to really put them on the map and reach a wide audience.
