All I can say is that it sometimes does finally come.’ This quote is from a letter of composer Ralph Vaughan Williams to his student Ina Boyle. Ina lived through difficult times between two world wars and faced countless rejections for her compositions, yet she never stopped writing. This is the very first professional recording of her violin concerto, a piece Ina dedicated to her mother, based on a poem and full of deep emotions. It’s astonishing to think that she spent her whole life in a small Irish village, composing symphonies that the world is only now beginning to discover. I hope today is the day when ‘it does finally come’ for Ina Boyle.”

Ina vivait pendant la période difficile de l’entre-deux-guerre. Elle a subi de nombreux rejets concernant ses compositions, et pourtant elle n’a jamais cessé de composer. Mon album est le premier enregistrement professionnel du concerto pour violon d’Ina Boyle. C’est une pièce dédiée à sa mère, inspirée d’un poème et empreinte d’une profonde émotion. Il est étonnant de se dire qu’elle a vécu toute sa vie dans un petit village irlandais, composant des symphonies que le monde ne découvre que maintenant. J’espère qu’aujourd’hui est enfin le moment où “ça finit bel et bien par arriver” pour Ina Boyle.
